CONTACT US….. PLUS TALKS and TOURS

Don’t be shy about contacting the Friends in relation to anything related to Jesmond Old Cemetery. Between us, we have a wealth of information and experience to help you with your enquiries and, in the past, we have helped so many people to find a grave, uncover information about their ancestors, arrange a talk about JOC or book a tour of JOC.

TALKS

We’ve given loads of presentation talks to a wide variety of community based groups, including the Women’s Institute, the u3a, Rotary Clubs and a whole range of history and heritage societies; basically, anyone who wants to not only hear more about what we do, but also learn about some of the famous (and not so famous) people who are buried in Jesmond Old Cemetery. We don’t mind travelling to whatever community hall, church hall or private dwelling that your group uses to host presentations – we’ve done them all and enjoyed every one.

We are pretty much self sufficient in that we have a computer, projector and screen, so there shouldn’t be a problem booking us for one of our unique presentations, as long as we have access to electricity and a nice cup of tea!!

Our presentation to Ponteland u3a.

TOURS

The Friends of Jesmond Old Cemetery are very keen to show off Jesmond Old Cemetery, in all its glory, to the great Geordie public and beyond. One of the best ways of doing this is by joining us one on of our world famous tours!!

On a formal basis, we take part in the Jesmond Community Festival, which takes place in May of each year and we also contribute to the Heritage Open Day fortnight, which takes place during September every year. Arrangements for these tours will be on the respective organisations’ website, our own website and on our Facebook and Twitter accounts, so no excuse for not knowing about them!!

On an informal basis, we are always happy to arrange bespoke tours for individuals, families, community groups and businesses. We charge £5.00 per person and this includes tea, coffee and lovely biscuits and cake (as well as a nice bit chat) at the end of each tour – all proceeds go towards our work within Jesmond Old Cemetery. We have had fantastic feedback from all who have attended our tours, with people commenting on our friendly, welcoming approach, our hospitality and, most importantly, the tour itself, so why not come along and find out for yourself why we are so popular.
