As well as continuing our long standing contribution to the Jesmond Community Festival this year, the Friends of Jesmond Old Cemetery are, for the first time, also taking part in National Cemeteries Week, which coincides with Hospice UK’s Dying Matters Awareness Week. We thought we’d try and do something a little different for NCW, so we have arranged a variety of hour long tours of Jesmond Old Cemetery, each one based on a specific theme, details below:

Wednesday 4th May 2022 (12:00 to 13:15) – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

Thursday 5th May 2022 (12:00 to 13:15) – Lives Cut Short

Thursday 5th May 2022 (13:30 to 14:45) – The Military

Friday 6th May 2022 (12:00 to 13:15) – Women in Jesmond Old Cemetery

Friday 6th May 2022 (13:30 to 14:45) – General Overview of Jesmond Old Cemetery

The tours will be approximately one hour long, which is much less time than we would normally spend on a tour of Jesmond Old Cemetery, but it provides an opportunity to have a quick but informative insight into some of those individuals buried within Jesmond Old Cemetery who are linked by a common theme.

To book a place on any of our tours, please email and we’ll confirm arrangements with you by return.

All tours are free, but any donations you may wish to make will be collected and forwarded to St. Oswald’s Hospice, Gosforth.
