STRETTLE PROVIDE THEIR HELP, SKILLS AND EXPERTISE FOR FREE

Local monumental masons, Strettle, answered our call for help and contributed their services for free in order to help complete the restoration of the 'western' central mound. Having cleared the area of brambles and ivy, and planting over 2,000 spring flowering bulbs (kindly donated by the City Council) it was felt by the Friends of Jesmond Old Cemetery that the next step would be to start re-erecting the monuments that had previously been made safe by lying them down flat. Having contacted Strettle, they were only too pleased to help out and duly arranged for members of their skilled staff to restore one of the more prominent monuments on the mound. Obviously, the Friends of Jesmond Old Cemetery are very grateful to Strettle for their help and we look forward to working with them in the future.

The following pictures illustrate the skill and expertise involved in the restoration process.
